In summer, hiking trails, volcanic lakes and nature activities are directly accessible from the campsite. The Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage site, can be reached in less than 30 minutes.
We offer accommodation open most of the year, as well as caravan and snowmobile pitches at the foot of Puy de Sancy, the highest peak in the Massif Central.

Summer camping near Super Besse: nature and wide-open spaces (June-September)
From June to September, Camping Bois de Gravière is the starting point for hikes in the Massif du Sancy. The GR30 passes close to the campsite, giving direct access to trails leading to the Puy de Sancy (1,885 m), Lake Pavin, the Chaudefour valley (nature reserve) and waterfalls.
Super-Besse also attracts mountain bike enthusiasts, with its bike park and technical downhill trails renowned throughout the Massif Central. Families enjoy the mountain lakes: supervised swimming at Lac des Hermines, pedal-boating and relaxation at Lac Chambon. The Couze Pavin river, which runs alongside our campsite, is ideal for anglers.
The Chaîne des Puys, a UNESCO World Heritage site, can be reached in just 30 minutes: the Dômes panoramic train and Vulcania park offer a fun way to discover the area. Historic sites such as the fortress of Murol and the medieval town of Besse complete the cultural offer in the immediate vicinity.
Winter camping near Super Besse: skiing and snow-covered mountains (December-March)
During the winter season, our campsite is a privileged destination for access to the Super-Besse ski area. Just a five-minute drive away, the resort is known as the best ski resort in the Massif Central, with the “Famille Plus” label for its family-friendly atmosphere and 40 km of sunny slopes on the southern slopes of the Sancy (1350-1850 m). A shuttle bus also takes you to Super-Besse.
On the program: downhill skiing, night skiing on floodlit slopes, giant slalom, freestyle, fantasy luge, snowscoot, yooner and activities with sled dogs and snowshoe hikes on the snowy trails of the massif. After the effort, the wellness area offers a jacuzzi, sauna and massage services. The bar serves hot chocolate and mulled wine, and board games.
For longer stays, camping is often cheaper than hotel accommodation in a resort.
Spring and autumn: softness and tranquillity out of season
The shoulder seasons from April to mid-June and September offer an ideal opportunity to discover the Sancy region away from the tourist crowds. Our 4-season campsite maintains its full range of services (heated swimming pool from the first warm days, wellness area, restaurant) with attractive rates and a peaceful atmosphere.
Spring reveals the flowering of the high altitude meadows and the awakening of the fauna of the Massif du Sancy. Mild temperatures are ideal for hiking without the fatigue of summer heat. The trails leading to the volcanic lakes and surrounding peaks offer optimal conditions, with unobstructed views over the Chaîne des Puys.
Autumn sets the beech forests and slopes of the Puy de Sancy ablaze in ochre and crimson hues. It’s the perfect time of year for photographers, mushroom pickers and hikers who appreciate the low-angled light at the end of the day. The villages of the Auvergne regain their tranquility, allowing you to visit Besse, Murol and heritage sites without the crowds.

Camping Bois de Gravière offers three types of accommodation for winter and summer stays: chalets and mobile homes equipped for all seasons (heating, air conditioning), and pitches for motorhomes and caravans with reinforced connections. Capacity from 2 to 9 people, depending on accommodation.
Cottage rental
Chalet rentals can accommodate 2 to 9 holidaymakers in wooden accommodation designed for four-season comfort. Each chalet features reinforced thermal insulation, a heating system for winter and air conditioning for summer. Double glazing provides excellent insulation in winter and summer,
The interior layout includes a fully equipped kitchen, a living room with dining area, bedrooms with comfortable bedding, and a shower room with toilet. A wooden terrace with garden furniture extends the outdoor living space.

The mobile homes at Camping Bois de Gravière are all-season models from French manufacturers, specially designed to withstand mid-mountain weather conditions. The “mobil-home rideau” technology ensures optimal insulation in summer and winter, complemented by reversible heat pumps that provide winter heating and summer air conditioning.
These rental accommodations feature a fitted kitchen, a bright living room, bedrooms with built-in storage and a bathroom with shower. The semi-enclosed covered terrace lets you enjoy the outdoors even in cool or rainy weather, with garden furniture provided.

Each plot includes a stabilized area for vehicle parking, an adjoining grassed area, and an electrical connection point sized for winter needs (4A, 6A or 10A terminals with standardized European plugs).
Adapted infrastructures include heated sanitary facilities (showers, washbasins, dishwashing basins, WC), a family area with baby bath and changing table, full PRM facilities and a laundry. The campsite also has a waste water and chemical toilet emptying facility, a Primagaz gas depot and refrigerator rental.

The heated swimming pool, maintained at 28°C from June to September, is equipped with massaging jets, waterfalls and a paddling pool for young children. Sunbathing on the deckchairs overlooking the Massif du Sancy.
The wellness area is open all year round, and is particularly popular in winter. The large Jacuzzi can accommodate up to 13 people simultaneously, with hydromassage jets and temperature control. The traditional sauna completes the relaxation offer, ideal for warming up muscles after winter sports. Massage services are available on reservation.
Heated washrooms, laundry facilities, summer/winter catering
Our winter campsite maintains all its facilities at a comfortable temperature during the cold season. Heated sanitary facilities include showers with individual cubicles, washbasins, washing-up basins and WCs, which are cleaned daily and kept frost-free even at sub-zero temperatures.
An area dedicated to families with young children offers a baby bath, heated changing facilities and adapted WCs. People with reduced mobility have access to full PRM facilities (shower, WC, washbasin, dishwasher) in an accessible sanitary block.
The laundry operates all year round, with a washing machine and tumble dryer, a service that is particularly appreciated after a day’s skiing. There’s also a drying room for wetsuits, boots and gloves between outings.
The reception bar offers hot chocolates, homemade mulled wine and comforting drinks during the winter season.
The campsite also offers a takeaway service with Auvergne specialities (raclette, fondue, truffade…), as well as homemade pizzas made with local produce, depending on the season. The Besse farmers’ markets (Wednesday and Saturday) offer direct access to local cheeses, meats and vegetables.
